Reduced hours for Washington County Libraries

From the November 22, 2011 County Board Meeting Results:

Hours at county library branches will change in 2012
The Washington County Board of Commissioners agreed Nov. 22 to change the hours during which the Washington County Library branches will be open in 2012. The changes are being made to accommodate budget reductions for the coming year.
Library branches will be closed Sunday and Monday. The R.H. Stafford branch in Woodbury, the Hardwood Creek branch in Forest Lake, and Park Grove branch in Cottage Grove will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
The Oakdale branch and the Wildwood branch in Mahtomedi will be open 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The Valley branch in Lakeland will be open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The library branches will be open a total of 234.5 hours each week.

Prescription Drug “Take Back” Event

Washington County is hosting a Prescription Drug “Take-Back” Event Saturday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Washington County Government Center, 14949 62nd St. N. in Stillwater.

Safely dispose of unwanted, expired and unused medicines which can lead to drug abuse or poisoning.  Drugs can harm the environment if flushed down the drain or disposed of in the trash.

Medicine accepted from households: prescriptions, over-the-counter and pet medicines in blister packs, capsules, pills, creams, gels, inhalers, patches, powders, sprays and vials.

Collection is for household and individuals only. No business or health care facilities allowed.  No needles or sharps.
