Mail Theft in Eagle Valley

A couple of days ago, there was significant mail tampering and theft in Eagle Valley, particularly along Golden Eagle Trail, Pinnacle Way, and Eagle Valley Drive. This was reported to the police; some of you may have seen the recent notice sent out by the city’s InTouch system:

Recently there has been an increase in mail theft in the City of Woodbury.  To reduce your risk in being victimized, you should pick up your mail promptly after delivery, and do not leave mail in the mailbox overnight.  If you see suspicious activity or if you are a victim of mail theft please report it to the Woodbury Police Department immediately by calling 651-439-9381. It is helpful if you are able to get a good description and the license plate number of any vehicle involved in suspicious activity.

You can sign up for notices from the city by going to their InTouch registration online at:

In addition to reporting any thefts to the police, you should also report your theft to the postal inspectors:

https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/investigations/MailFraud/fraudschemes/mailtheft/TipThieves.aspx

“The United States Postal Inspection Service offers up to a $10,000 Reward for information and services leading to the arrest and conviction of any person for Mail Theft. Theft of mail, or even possession of stolen mail, is a Federal Felony and upon conviction each offense may be punishable by a fine up to $250,000 and imprisonment up to five years. (Title 18, United States Code, Section 1708)”

Keep being aware, and stay in touch with your neighbors too!

Reflections, the literal kind

Thanks to those who walk and run on our dark, snowy streets in the pre-sunrise and post-sunset hours wearing reflective gear.  As a resident and, in turn, driver through the neighborhood, I really appreciate it when I clearly see you walking along the sides of the road. It is particularly great when I see your dog with a reflective coat, leash, or harness too.

So, thanks!

Happy 2011!

Wishing everyone a great 2011; may it bring happiness, friendship, and community to all of our lives.

Neighborhood Watch?

September 9 has come and gone as a tentative date for a neighborhood watch meeting. According to EVHA president Chuck Eckberg, the meeting is postponed indefinitely, although it may come forward as an agenda item for the annual homeowners’ meeting.

Vandalism in Eagle Valley

There have been recent reports of vandalism in Eagle Valley, prompting the Eagle Valley Homeowners Association Board to renew  discussions around starting a neighborhood watch program. The recent spate of tire and trampoline slashings on the north side of Eagle Valley generated at least 18 reports to Woodbury police. Board president Chuck Eckberg said, “This makes many people sad, and ready to take some action.” According to Mr. Eckberg, there will be an informal neighborhood meeting about these recent events on September 9, time and location to be announced.

Primary Election on Tuesday 8/10!

Don’t forget to vote in the Minnesota primary election on Tuesday, August 10. Eagle Valley’s polling place is in its usual location at the Eagle Valley Golf Club. If you would like to see a list of candidates for the various offices, you can go to the Secretary of State’s Polling Place Finder. Once you find your polling place, the list of candidates will be available along with links to web sites when available.
